The LEC Winter Split resumed the second week of the 2024 regular season with the opening match between Team Vitality and Rogue. The duel ended in favor of the French team, who seized the opportunity to secure their first win of the 2024 season in convincing fashion.
Fight for survival
Welcome to the electrifying arena of the second week of the LEC Winter Split 2024 regular season, where teams battle for supremacy and recognition in the European leagues to earn a place in the rest of the tournament. The opening day of this new week promises to be a very exciting showdown, with Team Vitality and Thug duking it out in a match that promises to be full of twists and turns. This match between Team Vitality and Rogue is more than just an encounter, it’s a battle for honor, progress and survival in a universe where every victory counts.
On the team vitality side, the situation is dire (or nearly so). The team, currently in 9th place, has been performing below expectations, marked by three consecutive defeats. This position, shared with Carmine Corp, reflects a difficult start to the season where each upcoming match becomes a decisive challenge for their survival in the competition. The team must find a new lease of life and a winning strategy to turn things around and prove their worth on the virtual battlefield. Conversely, Rogue, although in a slightly better position in 7th place, sharing this position with GiantX, is also not in a comfortable situation. With just one win in three games, the team is at a crossroads where each matchup could propel the team to the top of the standings or send them into the depths. The pressure is obvious, but it’s also an opportunity for the disease to demonstrate its resilience and ability to overcome obstacles.
A rogue team that is very passive
The game begins in earnest with two teams entering the Summoner’s Rift. Team Vitality takes an early lead, with the Bees showing a strong performance and slight aggression during the laning phase, gaining first blood and securing the first neutral objectives. This laning phase is conducive to Vitality, which finds itself with a 1k gold lead in the 10th minute. The first important fight takes place near the botlane a quarter of an hour into the game, which the French team brilliantly led, resulting in a triple kill for Vetheo and the capture of another dragon. Vitality tries to speed up the pace of the game with varying degrees of success, allowing them to maintain pressure in lanes and jungles and effectively control the map.
Team Vitality showed a clear improvement over their performance last week, making fewer mistakes and showing better coordination in difficulty against a clearly rogue team, which seemed bereft of its draft and its overly passive strategy. Around the 20th minute, Vetheo and his teammates upped their game in the midlane, increasing their lead to nearly 3k gold. After a while, they consolidate their ascendancy by capturing Sol, but face difficulties in conquering the first Nashor, facing a team of thugs blocking them. A massive team fight then breaks out in the midlane, where Vitality manages to break through their opponents’ defenses, eliminating them all together. Taking advantage of their numerical superiority, they surround the enemy base, break through the last defenses and destroy the Nexus, thus ending the game.
Team Vitality has picked up its first victory of the regular season this LEC Winter Split 2024, starting with the second week of competition. For Rogue, the strategy adopted in this game proved unproductive, and the team was unable to pose a real threat. Night and day for this Rogue team compared to last week’s win against G2 Esports.
