A former Texas high school teacher named “Teacher of the Year” will be fired after being accused of having an “ongoing relationship” with a teenage student.

Brandyn Hargrove, a 43-year-old teacher at Brazoswood Middle School in Clute, was arrested Dec. 21 on six counts of sexual assault of a juvenile, four counts of indecency with a juvenile by contact and two counts of indecency with a juvenile by exposure. KPRC.
The school district placed Hargrove on administrative leave in September after it was informed that the alleged victim, now 30, told police she had an “ongoing relationship” with the teacher when she was between the ages of 15 and 17.
The incidents took place off campus, Clute Police Chief James Fitch said after a two-year investigation, adding that witnesses played a key role in the investigation. ABC 13.
“Unfortunately, this is happening more and more these days,” Fitch said. “Since then we have had other laws in place, the inappropriate relationship between teacher and student was not in place. But your kids go to school and you trust the teachers and then things like this happen.”
The police chief added that police “do not know of any other victims,” he reported. KHOU.
