Game news Should we be worried after PlayStation’s State of Play announcements?
After the State of Play announcements, some are satisfied but others are worried about the future of PlayStation in 2024.
On the evening of Wednesday, January 31, PlayStation unveiled its first State of Play of 2024. A conference that allows Sony to introduce games and exclusives on PS5 coming this year. On the program: New releases, remakes and remasters, starting with the sequel to Helldivers, simply called Helldivers 2 with a new TPS view. One of the stars of the show is Stellar Blade, a PS5 exclusive arriving on April 26, 2024. The six-minute trailer that awaits you showcases a semi-open world, controlled by the main character Eve. Along with Silent Hill: The Short Message, there was also the return of the Silent Hill Saga, a nearly two-hour horror experience, as well as a “battle trailer” for the remake of Silent Hill 2, which is in development on Sony consoles. .

Above all, Hideo Kojima was in the spotlight during the conference, with new gameplay trailers for Death Stranding 2 which is planned for 2025 as well as “PHYSINT”, an action-espionage game in the vein of Metal Gear (no release date). We continue with a new trailer for the highly-anticipated Rise of the Ronin which will arrive on PS5 on March 22nd. But then, everything is fine with Sony, right? We discuss it in this video.

Should we be worried about PlayStation in 2024?
State of play announcements are far from satisfying to some, and for good reason: No first party games (ie titles produced by an internal PlayStation studio) and games that Sony wants to move entirely onto services. Others are reassured by comparisons to major releases like Death Standing. In this debate, on one side we have FKZ, which is far from reassuring, especially for outliers like Rise of the Ronin. On the other hand, we have Pantha who discovered that PlayStation has well-organized its various releases to make the year 2024 a success. So it’s hard to know if the announcements made during Play State will allow Sony or not. Good track record in future.
