Shooting at Bronx subway station injures several – Telemundo New York (47)

NEW YORK – A shooting at a Bronx subway station left one person dead and five others wounded, authorities announced. According to New York City police, the incidents occurred after a fight that boarded the train and extended to the subway platform.

The shooting took place at the station around 4.30 pm on Monday Mount Eden Avenue the whole Jerome Avenue in the neighborhood Mount EdenPolice sources said. A fight apparently broke out on the northbound Line 4 train before reaching the station.

When the doors were opened, at least one man pulled out a gun and fired shots while still on the train, police said. Then more shots were fired at the platform and 6 victims were hit. One of them, a 34-year-old man, died on the elevated train platform and five others were injured, police said.

According to police, the injured include two teenagers: a 14-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy. A man and woman in their 20s and a 71-year-old man were also shot. All were taken to a hospital, where they are expected to recover, according to police.

Some of the victims were believed to be part of groups involved in the fight on the train, while others were bystanders.

A police spokesman said no arrests have been made yet and the shooter remains at large. Authorities are looking for at least one person who ran west Mount Eden Avenue. A senior police official said investigators are taking videos from train station cameras as part of their efforts to identify one or more suspects.

13 shell casings were recovered from the spot.

As a result, service along Line 4 was delayed in both directions. Police advised people to stay away from J areaArom Avenue
