Dallas, Texas.- Tornado watches were canceled for several counties east of the metroplex, including Delta, Fannin, Hunt, Lamar and Rockwall.
During the early hours of January 12, a strong line of storms moved through the Dallas-Fort Worth area and dropped small hail, according to observer and meteorologist Nellie Carreno.
This risk of severe weather will be due to the first cold front moving in, separate from the arctic cold that will arrive Saturday night and Sunday morning.
This Thursday night, we will have DALLAS – Minimal severe weather risk in Fort, Denton and McKinney
. The risk will increase to 2 east of the metroplex, with mainly early morning thunderstorms and a chance of small hail. This may include Areas such as Mesquite, Kaufman, Waxahachie, Corsicana and Paris.Additionally, we expect winds of 50 mph and the tornado threat is very low, but not 0.
Our meteorologist Nelly Carreno recommends that you can still do some activities this Friday, as the weekend will not be as cold as we expect.

The National Weather Service warned that a car is the most unsafe place to be during such a natural event, but if you’re there, it’s important to check the position of seat belts, crouch under the steering wheel, put your hands above your head. And if there’s a chance to get out, find a slope where you can jump and take cover.
