Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, took advantage of its quarterly results presentation to shareholders to address GTA 6’s case. On this occasion, the CEO, Strauss Zelnick, tried to please the investors without winking at the players.
When a shareholder asked him how the decision to release a game like GTA 6 was made, the manager replied: “We seek perfection, and when we think we’ve maximized creativity, it’s time to come out.”
.While Rockstar hasn’t released a new GTA since 2013 (barring ports), Strauss Zelnick confirmed that he doesn’t intend to pull over for development: “We’re all in this together”. Since then, employees and managers benefit from financial incentives to encourage the release of these long-awaited titles.
But isn’t this precisely at odds with this quest for the perfect game? “There is potentially an internal tension between bringing a product to market and creating perfection”The CEO confirms.
Strauss Zelnick eventually returned to the excitement surrounding this new opus. And, if he doesn’t want to make false promises, all the lights are green:
Our feeling is that the expectation is very high – very, very high. On the other hand, you know, 195 million units sold to date (that’s talking about GTA V editor’s note), it’s not something to ignore. We are a long way from predicting how the stock will perform, but it is clear that expectations are very high.
We won’t know much for the moment, but the CEO isn’t wrong to say that expectations are high for this new GTA. There is something more to this saga, and it arouses the interest of many gamers of very different social backgrounds and ages, which is very rare in the video game industry today.
