Espionage suspicions surrounding the Bolsonaro clan are stirring. According to a notice published on Tuesday, January 30 official newspaper, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has fired Alessandro Moretti, deputy director of the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (ABIN).
Federal police are investigating the country’s No. 2 intelligence service, whom they suspect of being part of a secret network that used the Israeli spyware FirstMile to illegally spy on hundreds of politicians and public figures under the presidency of Jair Bolsonaro (2019-2022).
On Monday, police conducted searches in several Brazilian states, notably the home and office of Carlos Bolsonaro, a municipal councilor in Rio de Janeiro and the second of four sons of the former far-right president.
Police also went to the residence where Jair Bolsonaro and his first three sons were in Angra dos Reis, a coastal town about 150 km from Rio de Janeiro. The former president complained on this occasion “persecution”
