There have been many heartbreaking moments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the death of Vision. Avengers: Infinity War is one of them. It turns out, the moment was improvised, reveals Vision actor Paul Bettany.
Paul Bettany attended MegaCon in Orlando, Florida and discussed his role in an interview with Collider. The actor played the synthetic humanoid Vision created by Ultron in 2015 Avengers: Age of Ultron, and had a relationship with Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch. Their tragic love story ended with Vision’s death in 2018 Avengers: Infinity WarAnd the first idea for Vision’s death wasn’t working, so Bettany and Olson improvised the scene
.Paul Bettany has good news for fans hoping to see him return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the Vision.
“(Directors) The Russo Brothers came to us (Bettaney and Olsen) and said, ‘Hey, listen, Can you just fix this scene?‘And I go, ‘What? Being killed by being a robot?’ I have no frame of reference!” Bettany shared. “And Lizzie just laughed at him, and we’re so relaxed with each other…I don’t know how it would have worked without that, because We both really trust each other and, somehow, we have made something work“
In typical Marvel fashion, the actor revealed that he didn’t really know who was going to die: “It was hilarious. None of us knew who was going to die until the next day or something like that” Bettany said. “They kind of showed us a pre-visualization of it and everybody was like, well, I guess I’m going to have to take the kids out of private school,” Bettney added.
After his heartbreaking death, Wise reprized his role in the critically acclaimed Disney+ miniseries Wandavision with Olson. Alternate versions of Vision also appear in Disney+’s animated series What if… There are rumors about it Vision Quest series that will bring the character back, but Marvel Studios has yet to confirm the series. It is also unclear if Olsen will return to the MCU. The Scarlet Witch was found to be dead at the end Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of MadnessAnd There are no official plans for his return.

Before playing Vision, Bettany played Jarvis, Tony Stark’s artificial intelligence. He later became synthetic with the help of Jarvis and the Mind Stone and joked that 2008 iron manWhen director Jon Favreau came calling, he wanted someone with “no personality”.
“Jon Favreau, who played my agent in the movie called WimbledonHe said, “Look, I’m directing this thing iron man And I need someone who doesn’t have a personality, and I immediately thought of you.“How do you say no to that?” Bettany asked.
“So I was doing that, and it was a lot of fun and I came in at the end and solved everybody’s problem, solved what they couldn’t articulate on camera, all I could say was, “The bad boys are coming, And they’re right behind you!” or whatever… I think I made everyone laugh, and they went, oh, it would be great to have him on set.
I think that’s how it happened. I think they just thought I’d be fun to hang out with.”Although his future in the MCU is still unclear, Paul Bettany has several projects lined up. He will star in Robert Zemeckis’ drama Here, which also stars Tom Hanks, Kelly Reilly, and Rob Wright. He will also play pop art legend Andy Warhol in Kwame Kwei-Armah’s The Collaboration.
