Orange is very present in sports, be it football, rugby or the Olympic Games, being the official supplier of these global events. The operator is still not very present in electronic sports but it is making inroads, as evidenced by its partnership with the French League of Legends League (LFL).
After partnerships with Millennium, Vitality and Carmine Corp, the Orange have just signed with the LFL to become its official supplier, according to Sport Buzz Business. “We will now refocus our strategy on football and esports,” Stefan Tardival, director of sponsorships, partnerships and events at Orange, explained to our colleagues.
The historic operator has announced that it wants to refocus on its core business, networks. By becoming the official supplier of the Electronic Sports League, Orange is demonstrating the strength and quality of its network. To win online, you need a high-performance connection with stable speed as well as good latency to avoid losing precious seconds that could cost you victory.
“We usually say that you need the best cleats to play football, you need the best network to watch your favorite streamers” adds Stefan Tardivel. The idea is also to bring more to the league and not just limited to network connections.
Orange is not the only esports partner in France. The operator has also been in Africa for several years with its Orange eSports experience which will also broadcast an eFootball tournament in parallel with the African Cup of Nations from 19 to 20 January.
