But aside from Loki’s early in the film, the worst death scene of all was Vision’s. What made it most heartbreaking and unforgettable was that it was his own love interest, Wanda, who had to end it. While other characters’ deaths – or disappearances – in Thanos’ immediate aftermath broke many hearts, no other death. Avengers: Infinity War Earned as many tears as Vision. In fact, even Loki’s death at the beginning of the film is second only to the death of Paul Bettany’s Marvel character!

But there’s one fact most people don’t know about Vision’s demise: At first, it didn’t go as smoothly as it appeared on screen. This was because the visualization of the death scene did not work in real life for more than one reason.

Recently, at MegaCon in Orlando, Bettany shared details about how she ended up improvising the scene with co-star Elizabeth Olsen. Speaking to Collider, he said:

“It was hilarious. None of us knew who was going to die until the next day or something,” Bettany said. “They kind of showed us a pre-visualization of it and everybody was like, well, I guess I have to Children have to be taken out of private schools.”

Now, the main problem was that, because of Marvel’s policy of total secrecy, no one knew who was going to die until they were very close to shooting the scene. Thus, since the scene could not proceed as scripted and planned, one had to improvise.

However, something had to be done even within that limited time frame. Thus, seeing no other option, the Russo Brothers, namely Joe and Anthony Russo, called Bettany and Olsen to revise the scene. As Paul Bettany recalled:

“The Russo Brothers came to us (Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen) and said, “Hey, listen, can you just improvise this scene?” And I go, “What? An improvisation of a robot being killed? I have no frame of reference. No!”

This led to the main, main The problem was that the entire cast and crew for the originally planned scene couldn’t work, and the actors involved in the scene couldn’t even improvise because they had “No frame of reference” About how to kill a robot.

But then Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen automatically took the lead, and everything was perfectly placed to result in a masterwork. Avengers: Infinity War.

.

This, they did by doing the same thing they did in the movie: trust each other completely. As Bettany went on to share how the scene ended the way it did:

“Lizzy was laughing at it, and we’re so relaxed with each other that … I don’t know how it would work without her, because we both really trust each other and, somehow, we managed to get something. It worked.”
