JVTech News NVIDIA has something new for your PC! An AI that lets you summarize YouTube videos and search for documents on your computer. Not sure what gamers were waiting for…
Nvidia has been in the artificial intelligence business for a long time and that has allowed them to release some absolutely incredible software. Here’s how to build your own AI with the data you need.
Nvidia, the graphics card giant poised to become bigger than Google, is venturing into a familiar corporate playground with the introduction of Chat with RTX. This is a demo app for PC that offers innovative conversational AI. At first glance, the goal seems surprising: to make YouTube videos easier to summarize and find information
In your own documents. Not sure if this is really what gamers dreamed of… and yet!The application, still in alpha version, is based on two technologies: Mistral or Lama 2 machine learning libraries and the power of tensor cores of RTX 30 and 40 graphics cards. The result? AI capable of processing your data without sending it to the cloud. It’s like having an AI that you train yourself.
In practice, chat with RTX shows promise for very specific tasks. The ability to automatically summarize YouTube videos is especially interesting for quickly digesting podcasts or conferences. Its usefulness is truly amazing for journalists, students or anyone who wants to analyze large volumes of documents.
Except it doesn’t stop there, as the tool also allows you to make a “Specific Request”. All you have to do is give it the URL of a YouTube video and it will explore the transcription for specific keywords. It can also index your PDFs, Word documents, etc.
The journalists of The Verge thus had the opportunity to test Nvidia’s artificial intelligence, and at least we can say that there are a few aspects to refine. As a result, chat with RTX remains a demo and still suffers from some bugs. Installation seems laborious (30 minutes on high-end configuration) and The application is resource intensive consuming about 40 GB of disk space and 3 GB of RAM
.Above all, precision and reliability are not yet there. Finding YouTube videos is sometimes derailed and source attribution is not always accurate. Additionally, the lack of consideration of context makes it impossible to ask questions related to previous conversations. AI only learns and knows what you give it and does not have long-term learning.
It remains to be seen whether NVIDIA will choose to continue development of Chat with RTX and make it a true consumer application. In the meantime, the demo remains a think tank, giving us a glimpse of what the future of local AI holds.
