Minecraft Bedrock Player Shares A Cool Strategy To Defeat Wither Using Trident

The Bedrock Edition version of the Minecraft: Wither boss is known to be a tougher enemy than its Java counterpart, partly due to its higher total health and higher normal difficulty, as well as its improved attack pattern. However, a Redditor named WindLight_WL recently shared a post showing an effective way to defeat this boss mob, albeit with a string attached.

On January 8, 2024, WindLight_WL demonstrated an effective defeat of Minecraft’s Wither boss using a trident as a weapon. The catch is that the user used the Riptide Enchantment, allowing themselves to be launched when the trident was thrown while they were touching the water, and it happened to rain during the fight.

Minecraft fans react to WindLight_WL’s wither battle strategy

With a riptide-enchanted trident during the storm, Windlight_WL was able to hover in the air during the Minecraft battle, striking the wither faster than it could respond. Compared to other tricks like trapping Wither, this trick definitely looks like a blast to try, and many fans joked that the battle turned out like an anime fight.

WindLight_WL seemed to take some damage from the Wither status effect during the fight, but it appears that they used multiple positive status effects of their own to compensate.

Both regeneration and absorption were active, indicating that WindLight_WL kept their golden apple handy. Other beacon-based effects help keep them in the air and avoid heavy damage while zipping around.

Meanwhile, other players mentioned popular combat-heavy series like Devil May Cry and God of War. Windlight_WL also thinks in terms of Dante, the previous protagonist, and his ability to change fighting styles mid-battle. At the same time, some commenters were surprised by the execution of the fight and speculated how difficult it might be to complete on the mobile/pocket edition.

Devil May Cry jokes continued in effect, with players referencing Dante’s brother Virgil and his theme “Bury the Light” from Devil May Cry 5. The fact that Windlight_WL used a Minecraft texture pack to change the trident into a katana might help on that front. A user helpfully supplied a download link to a texture pack that provided a visual change.

The post led to many Minecraft fans lamenting that the Java Edition wither wasn’t as challenging as the boss battles, and many wondered why Mojang hadn’t yet implemented bedrock mechanics for bosses as standard in Java as well. Whatever the case, WindLight_WL certainly proved to be a very effective way to defeat bosses while minimizing damage to the player.

Wither can be a strong mob in Minecraft, but with the right enchantment and a few effects to help out, even a hard mode iteration of this boss should be dispatchable with enough practice.
