Metro’s Mystery Room Jennifer gets a treat in Limoges

Here is a small postcard with a photo of the beautiful porcelain plates that Jennifer sent us this Friday. “Dear 20 minutes. I am currently in Limoges to relax. I look forward to seeing you in Rennes. » For those who don’t know Jennifer, we remind you that this is the mysterious room that has shut down the entire Line B of the Rennes Metro since January 3.

About the size of a hand, we named this piece of metal that Siemens never wanted to name Jennifer. And guess what? In the corridors of the metropolis, this is now the short name adopted to refer to the mysterious defective part. We hope to restart Line B before a part has to be replaced four times on 25 trains (i.e. 100 times in total).

In a press release issued this Friday (yes, we exaggerated a bit on the postcard), Rennes Metropole announced that the renovation of the first bogie had been successfully carried out. The bogie is actually the cart on which little Jennifer is fixed and on which the train is placed.

Always in good time?

Faced with premature wear, Siemens Mobility decided to “preventively” replace all Jennifers to “put them back in the same configuration as they left the factory”. The operation is currently taking place in Limoges at the Siemens supplier’s industrial site. The same operation will be repeated in three trains in the coming days to validate the industrial process and accelerate the speed.

Enough to hopefully relaunch Line B by April? It is still too early to tell. In the meantime, a substitute bus line has been put in place to compensate for the absence of the second Rennes metro line. Meanwhile, as another Jennifer sings.
