Austin Butler And Calum Turner There are only two of the names associated with the brilliance and epicness of Apple TV+ Masters of the Air. The remarkable real-life saga of the American Eighth Air Force will be brought to life in this series. It focuses on the daring exploits of young pilots who risked everything to engage the German army in aerial combat. Butler and Turner have been engaged in intensive training for the project and were speaking to Collider Carly Lane
Butler revealed that the camaraderie he developed with his fellow airmen helped bring the show to life, as he explains.“I think I took everything from that. That was the foundation. I was able to meet a lot of people where I was working, and that’s how we really started to build that bond and sense of brotherhood,” said Butler, who portrayed his was nominated for an Academy Award for Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmannof Elvis last year
He went on to explain that he and Turner played two majors in the US Air Force, which put them in a leadership position on the project, and learned the ideals from the training they received under the captain’s tutelage. Dale Dye During their preparation it was important to prepare themselves for war.
“Callum and I are majors, and so the feeling of leadership and looking out for everyone and making sure that if someone is falling behind, how do you support them and pick them up? So, it’s like being a big brother. Felt. Great group of young people. So, I felt that a lot, but also his education. We were led by the captain. Dale DyeWhich is just remarkable and he knows so much about the military and about that period, so to learn from him about World War II and the history of the world at that time and what led us there, it was really amazing.”
Butler plays Major Gale Klevan, while Turner is Major John Egan. Klaven is the quiet, introverted type while Egan is very outgoing. The pair wouldn’t normally be friends, but Turner expanded on the point Butler made about brotherhood, which can be forged in the most unlikely of circumstances and with whom you can’t partner, unless left with no choice.
“Opposites attract, darling. That’s how it goes. He’s the yin to my yang. I love that about them. I love that they’re so different in their personalities because the further apart they are, the more it makes sense. That at the core of their friendship, there’s this bond that’s unbreakable because they’re both doing the same thing. They’ve both been there and respected each other since they joined before Pearl Harbor, and there’s something inherent in them that they want to protect. And they want to help the world. Before it was mandatory, they actually sacrificed themselves before people asked them to do it.
Turner added that the unit known as “The Bloody Hundredth” were the best pilots in the sky and recognized this ability in each other when they took to the air. They knew they would die for each other, and that respect carried over on screen and in real life, as Turner paid tribute to his co-star, Butler.
“They were great pilots, and they recognized within them this determination to take care of everyone and lead them through it,” he continued. “I mean, you have that line, ‘We’ll lead our boys through it,’ and that’s what they decide to do, and they meet each other. And I love That their personalities are like, “Whoa!” There, because it means so much more when they’re here, and what it means to them as people and as human beings. Bucky was Buck’s best man at his wedding. This relationship was the best friendship everyone could dream of, you know? I loved making it with Austin. He’s one of the best actors I’ve ever interacted with, and one of the best people, and it was a pleasure. It really was.”
