“Madam Web” is in theaters now and, although it’s based on a character from the “Spider-Man” comics, it’s not really connected to any of the Spider-Man films we’ve seen so far. However, there is A handful of spider-people to keep track of.
The film centers on Cassandra Webb (Dakota Johnson), a paramedic who develops the power to see the future after nearly dying on the job. Gaining these powers, he sees the future of three young women, who decide to become heroes — if they can avoid being killed in the present.
Why can they be killed? Well, Ezekiel Sims (Tahr Rahim) can also see the future, and he sees his own death at the hands of the trio, so he decides to kill them first.
So, here’s our complete “Madam Webb” cast and character guide.
Casey Webb (Dakota Johnson) – Cassandra Webb, who goes by Cassie, decides to become the Madame Webb of the comics. But the character has a younger role, and is played by “50 Shades of Grey” and “Suspiria” star Dakota Johnson.
Julia Cornwall (Sydney Sweeney) Although she decides to become Silk, we meet this hero in the film as Julia Cornwall. She is shy and nervous at this point in life, and she is played by “Euphoria” and “Anyone But You” star Sidney Sweeney.
Anya Corazon (Isabella Merced) — Anya Corazon is an intelligent young woman who is also ready to gain her powers in the future. She is brought to life by Isabella Merced, who fans may know from “Dora and the Lost City of Gold”, “Transformers: The Last Knight” or “Instant Family”. She will star as Hawkgirl in James Gunn’s “Superman: Legacy” next year.
Matty Franklin (Celeste O’Connor) – Rounding out the trio of girls must protect Dakota Johnson’s character Mattie Franklin. He comes from a rich family, but not great parents. She is played by Celeste O’Connor, who starred in “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” and “Freaky.”
Ezekiel Sims (Tahar Rahim) – The man who kicks off the action of “Madam Web” is Ezekiel Sims, as he hunts down three women he believes are destined to kill him. Fans will know the French actor best as Malik Al Jabena from “The Prophet.”
Ben Parker (Adam Scott) – In this universe, Casey Webb is actually Ben Parker’s partner at work — yes, the same man who eventually becomes Uncle Ben. In this telling of the story, he is played by “Parks and Recreation” star Adam Scott.
Mary Parker (Emma Roberts) “Madam Web” takes place in a universe where Spider-Man has not yet been born. And in that universe, Emma Roberts plays his mother, Mary Parker. The actress previously starred in “Scream Queens”, “American Horror Story” and “We’re the Millers”.
Amaria (Zosiah Mamet) — Every villain needs a tech-savvy sidekick, and in Ezekiel Sims’ case, it’s Amaria. She is his “lady in the chair” and is played by Zosia Mamet. You may recognize her most recently from “The Flight Attendant,” but Mamet also played Shoshanna on “Girls.”
