In the premises of the Rectorate building of the University of Magellan (UMAG), this coming Monday, January 15 and Tuesday, January 16, 2024 the meeting of the 21 Deans and Faculties and Directors of the Schools of Medicine in the country that it brings. Together, from Erica to Magellan, the Association of Medical Faculties of Chile, Asofamech.

This session will have its central axes of dialogue mental health in the field of university education; and experiences and key challenges Medicine courses in extreme areas. This was reported by the Director of UMAG School of Medicine. Dr. Mario Mayanz Cassato, which will organize this double day work on medical education in Chile.

According to the academic, it is very relevant that the region and, in particular, the UMAG, receives a meeting of this intensity, because it is a sign of support for the medical educational project in Magallanes, and for the same university school in 2014, in the south of Chile. Additionally, he highlighted that this is an opportunity to share analysis and views on other topics of interest in the field, such as research in medical education and teaching innovation in medicine.

On Monday 15th the day will begin at 9:00 am with presentations “Towards a Comprehensive Conception of Mental Health and its Challenges in the Training of Health Professionals”. in charge Dr. Mario Valdivia Peralta University of Concepcion (UdeC); And “Mental health and positive development among Chilean university students”. Under the leadership of Dr. Ana Barrera Herrera from the Catholic University of Temuco and a researcher at the Imhe Millennium Nucleus.

The morning program continues the theme “Formation of Medical Schools in Arica and Magellan. Problems and Solutions in Its Formation and Development”. through demonstrations of Dr. Andrea LarazabalDean of Medicine and Director of the UMAG School of Medicine at the University of Terapaca, Dr. Mario Maynz.

During the afternoon, meanwhile, results of research project competitions promoted by ASOFAMECH and other presentations referring to medical training experiences in universities are expected to be announced. On the following day, and to close, the Council of Deans of ASOFAMECH will be held, where the various annual reports of each of its executive units will be announced.
