For the 2024 LCS Roadshow update, Riot Games announced significant changes to the LCS Spring Split Finals. The changes include the spring split finals to be held March 30-31 at the Riot Games Arena in Los Angeles and a reduction in the number of road shows.
There is no roadshow at Spring Split
Starting this year, the number of LCS league road shows will be reduced, confirming that the Spring Split Finals will be held in Los Angeles on March 30-31 at the Riot Games Arena. The changes come as Riot recently announced the layoff of 530 employees from its global workforce, some who played key roles in front of and behind the camera for LCS and LEC.
As part of a broader strategy that also affects other regional leagues, Riot Games is adjusting the format and number of its live events. The American studio aims to direct its investments towards initiatives that provide the greatest impact for the community, fans and players, with a particular emphasis on improving the visual experience to make competitions more attractive and enhance the value of the best aspects of the league.
Riot Games also plans to enrich the fan experience through the activation and participation of teams and partners, promising a fan fest atmosphere comparable to previous roadshows. Additional information on these initiatives will be shared at a later date.
We believe that the period of transition is also the one that offers the greatest potential for innovation. In just over a month, our teams were able to bring the LCS back to weekends, launch live patch play, create new workflows to reduce the time between matches, and refresh the look of our live streams. Innovation is at the heart of our DNA at LCS, and we will continue to iterate and improve to meet, and hopefully exceed, ecosystem and community needs.
While we know the Spring Split Finals will be different, we are determined to create an event that transcends a typical day on the field. Creating a memorable and engaging fan experience will always be our top priority and we have set high standards for ourselves at our previous events. We are confident that the Spring Finals will be a great event for fans, whether in person or online.
