We received the Deco BE85 from TP-Link a few months ago to test it out. This mesh kit, which allows you to create a WiFi network and cover the house using several terminals, has the distinction of being one of the first to be compatible with WiFi 7. Problem: When received in mid-2023, none of our devices were WiFi 7 compliant and the standard has not yet been finalized.

But things have changed, and the wifi 7 standard has been approved. We have all the features of the standard (320 MHz, 4K-QAM, MLO) MSI Prestige AI Evo 13, compatible smartphones like the ROG Phone 8 Pro from Asus and the Google Pixel 8 Pro, but also the Intel BE200 wifi 7 expansion card which only works with Intel motherboards (in our experience). seems consistent with

In order to conduct our flow measurements, we used the 10 Gb/s Ethernet standard, our 2.5 Gb/s adapters (and even the 5 Gb/s ones) are now the bottleneck of our network.
More than 3 Gb/s on average
Once our installation was done, we were able to evaluate the speed offered by the TP-Link Deco BE85 with measurements close to 3.3 Gb/s on average in wifi 7, whether on the 6 GHz frequency or using the MLO function ( a sort of aggregation of the 5 and 6 GHz frequency bands).
To give you a concrete idea of what this represents, it is possible to transfer the size of a DVD equivalent to 4.6 GB in less than 12 seconds. In comparison, one of the best-performing 6E WiFi kits, the Asus ZenWifi Pro ET12 (which we tested), tops out at 1.5 Gb/s; So we are not too far from the theoretical multiplication of speed by 2.4 when switching from wifi 6 to wifi 7.
The ROG Phone 8 Pro Edition also works very well in WiFi 7.
On smartphones, we reached 2.6 Gb/s on the Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro Edition. Downloading a game at this speed takes less than 2 seconds Genshin effect on your phone. For comparison, the Google Pixel 6 maxed out at 1.8 Gb/s on 6E WiFi using 6E WiFi on our Deco BE85.
TP-Link Deco BE85 finds its place in our model home.
We are currently continuing our measurements on the TP-Link Deco BE85 in our sample home to test the backhaul performance between terminals in a local environment and the potential benefits associated with MLO (Multi-Link Operation). Full test will be published soon Digital.
