Maybe I’m just stupid, but it seems really weird that all of Smolder’s abilities are physical damage.

I do not know. Just seeing him shoot all those fireballs should count as magical damage in my eyes.

I mean, look at it. He and Annie actually have similar abilities, just throwing fire everywhere. But Anne’s fire is magical and Smolder’s is…physical.

I do not know. It is really shocking to see. And new players who don’t read the tooltips (which is admittedly their fault), don’t realize that Smolder’s abilities are actually all physical. Which, honestly, is a really lame design at this point.

It really looks like they created a mage, then decided to artificially force her to be an “ADC” by making her damage physical. Honestly, I wish it was magical damage. It will be one of the few AP ADCs we have. It will be similar to what it does now.

The more I think about it, the more I’m convinced that he would literally be a better champion if his spells had magic damage and he scaled with AP. Not only will it work better, but it will also make more sense visually. The more I think about it and look at Smolder’s situation, the more I really think they forced him to be AD “ADC”.

Critical hit scaling in particular is just stupid. This is there so the crit stats don’t seem like crap, even though he’s clearly a champion caster. Basically, a magician. His Q is his main source of damage, his W is another source of damage, and his RA is a long-range nuke. Smolder was 100% a magician during his development. Then they decided they wanted him to be the next “Azreal”, I guess, so they did all the physical damage and added random critical scaling to his abilities.
