The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered for PlayStation 5 is just days away from its official release. Following in the footsteps of Naughty Dog’s previous title, The Last of Us Part 1 for PS5, the upcoming remaster of the sequel features a massive graphical overhaul compared to its original PS4 release, as well as other PS5-exclusive bells and whistles.
The Last of Us Part 2, along with Sugar Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima, was one of the last titles released for the PS4 to take advantage of the full capabilities of Sony’s eight-generation console hardware. However, with the recent release of The Last of Us Part 1 for PS5, it was clear that the sequel could greatly benefit from a similarly dedicated PS5 port.
The next title is the original PS5 version of The Last of Us Part 2. With its release date, fans may be wondering if The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is coming to PC, especially since previous Naughty Dog titles, including The Last of Us, are coming. Part 1, has already made its way to PC.
Unfortunately, Naughty Dog and PlayStation have yet to confirm anything regarding a possible PC release of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered.

The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is currently a PS5 exclusive, but may come to PC at a later date
The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is a dedicated PlayStation 5 version of the PS4 version of the original game. Unlike Naughty Dog’s previous title, The Last of Us Part 1, which was built from the ground up as a remake, the upcoming remaster is exclusive to current-generation portability, with new additions exclusive to the PS5.
That being said, considering PlayStation’s push towards PC gaming, with most flagship PS4 and PS5 titles eventually making the jump to PC, it’s highly likely that The Last of Us Part 2 will hit the platform. Typically, most PlayStation first-party exclusives arrive on PC a year after their original console release.
The most recent PlayStation 5 to make its way to PC at the time of writing this article is Guerrilla Games’ Horizon Forbidden West, which was originally released in 2022 for PS4 and PS5. Since The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is a brand new release for PlayStation 5, fans shouldn’t expect a PC version to come out anytime soon.
In my honest opinion, it would be best if PlayStation and Naughty Dog took all the time necessary for the PC port of The Last of Us Part 2 so as not to repeat the same disastrous launch of the PC version of The Last of Us Part 1. Although The Last of Us Part 1 is currently doing pretty well on PC, at the time of its release last year, it was plagued by technical issues.
Our last Part 1 on PS5 was a nearly flawless release, at least from a technical standpoint. However, when it came to the PC version, which was released a few months shy of a year later, the game was not optimized for the platform. From visual glitches and stuttering to hard crashes, the PC release was not well received, to say the least.
The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is scheduled for release on January 19, 2023, exclusively for PlayStation 5.
