‘I tested negative for drug use,’ Musk replied to the WSJ
Monterrey Mexico.- Elon Musk responded to The Wall Street Journal article detailing how Tesla and SpaceX executives are concerned about his drug use, saying he has not tested positive for drugs and highlighting his companies’ commercial successes.
“While simultaneously leading Tesla to become the world’s most valuable car company and posting space on the X.
The WSJ reported over the weekend that Musk has used LSD, cocaine, ecstasy and psychedelic mushrooms, according to people who saw him use it and others knew about it.
In recent years, he added, some executives and board members at his companies have become concerned about the billionaire’s drug use.
People close to the tycoon say his drug use continues and worry it could cause a health crisis or hurt his businesses.
Using illegal drugs would likely be a violation of federal policies that could jeopardize SpaceX’s billions of dollars in government contracts.
This practice would also violate the corporate policies of SpaceX and Tesla.
In X, Musk claimed he had not tested positive for drugs in three years of random testing.
“No traces of drugs or alcohol were found,” he highlighted.
In 2018, comedian Joe Rogan was investigated at the request of NASA after he smoked marijuana on his show.
NASA demanded written assurances that SpaceX was complying with federal drug-free workplace laws, the WSJ reported.
Corporate contractors must follow NASA’s standard guidelines for drug testing, which typically screens for marijuana and cocaine, and also has the ability to test for amphetamines, opiates, and PCP.
Contractors can also lose security clearances due to drug abuse, which is defined as the use of illegal drugs or prescription drugs “in a manner that deviates from approved medical directions.”
In his role as CEO and founder of SpaceX, Musk has a security clearance that gives him access to classified information.
In another social media post, Musk said: “If drugs really help improve my net productivity over time, I’ll definitely take them!”
