Hostages: “Hamas sets unacceptable terms for deal” (Israeli officials)
Early next week, a summit will be convened in one of the European capitals to begin a new agreement to release the Israeli hostages held by Hamas for 111 days.
“Currently there are no terms that allow negotiations to begin, the terms presented by Hamas are unacceptable,” Israeli officials say.
Senior Israeli officials said even the mediators understood that these conditions were impossible and that Sinwar and Hamas had stepped up their demands in the talks. They demand Israel’s complete withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and guarantee that Hamas will remain in power after the war.
Among others, Qatar’s prime minister, the head of the CIA and the head of Mossad Barnea are expected to attend the summit. To see if they will meet in Europe, despite the difficult conditions, any progress towards an agreement can be achieved. A senior Israeli official involved in the talks said VsHanel 12 that “under no circumstances should we accept these terms, otherwise all countries in the region will realize that Israel can be overthrown by holding it hostage.”
This Friday, Hamas released a propaganda video featuring the three hostages, Doron Steinbracher, Karina Ariev and Daniela Gilboa.
