Shared parking company ZenPark has just released its second annual report on the cities with the highest monthly parking costs in 2024. Although prices are generally rising, some cities stand out with higher rates.
In 2024, the average monthly price to rent a parking space in France is €87.95, according to the latest Zenpark report. The information comes from a company specializing in shared parking fares, which studied monthly car parking costs in ten French cities for its annual report.
Zenpark writes, “With inflation weakening the budget, motorists and two-wheeler drivers must also contend with reduced number of surface parking spaces, paid parking for two-wheelers, higher charging for SUVs, pedestrianization of city centers.”
Although parking prices have increased this year, parking is particularly expensive in some cities. Without a doubt, the capital, Paris, tops the podium, with an average monthly rate of €207. The next cities in the ranking are Marseille, where parking costs an average of €151.50 per month, and Lyon, with an average monthly rate of €111.
Thus, we recorded an increase of 7% for Paris where the price of parking increased from €192 to €207. Marseille saw an increase of 25% while Lyon saw an increase of 11%.

Montpellier: €101 per month on average.

While these displayed prices have increased for most of the cities mentioned, in some districts of the same cities, the prices are changing. Indeed, disparities in parking rental rates appear by neighborhood. ZenPark highlights that users of parking lots located near city centers or tourist spots pay more, while residential areas, further from the urban core, benefit from more affordable parking costs.
“As for smaller provincial towns, the latter have lower parking rental costs than those announced, with monthly prices ranging from 40 to 100 euros depending on the location,” Zenpark explains.
