Golden Globes: Mark Hamill meets his Star Wars ‘Mother’ Natalie Portman for the first time

When Mark Hamill brings out his goofy side, we just can’t control our laughter. The same happened when the Hollywood actor shared a picture with Natalie Portman on Instagram with his on-screen ‘mother’ from Star Wars. Hamill and Portman attended this year’s star-studded Golden Globes awards ceremony. The event was held on January 7 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. While Portman was nominated for her film May December, Hamill was given the first award in the Cinematic Box Office Achievement category. A picture of the pair with a Star Wars reference has now caught people’s eyeballs, especially since it was their official first date.

“Now I’ve finally met my ‘ma’, thanks to the Golden Globes,” read Mark Hamill’s hilarious caption. The photograph captured Hamill posing with Natalie Portman, dressed in a black suit. Both the celebrities flashed an adorable smile for clicks. Natalie was dressed in a shimmering silver dress, which featured multicolored sequin-work.

Although Mark Hamill and Natalie Portman were a part of the Star Wars franchise, they never appeared in any of the films together. Probably due to their busy schedules, they didn’t even get a chance to meet each other in real life. While Hamill made his Star Wars debut in the 1977 film Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, Portman’s debut came in 1999 with the George Lucas-directed Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.

Reacting to Natalie Portman’s birthday post in 2018, Mark Hamill wrote, “I’ve never met this woman.” The post has come as a shock to their fans who have been waiting for more than two decades for the two stars to meet. Objecting to an interview with Stephen Colbert, Portman said, “That’s a shame, I’d love to meet him. Mark, I’d love to meet you, come on!” Now, fans can breathe a sigh of relief.
