More recently, Fortnite maker Epic Games lost a mega-lawsuit against Apple, with the tech giant asking Epic to pay $73 million in legal fees. However, while this seemed like an ominous development to stop all efforts to bring Fortnite back to the App Store and iOS devices, a new law passed by the EU will change the game completely.
The Digital Markets Act (DMA) will provide regulation of digital platform services across the EU, meaning Apple can no longer prevent Epic from running third-party stores on its devices. With this in mind, Epic has already taken to X that later this year, Fortnite will return to iOS in European countries (but not the UK as the country is no longer part of the EU).
All this comes after Apple too changed its position On game streaming services and apps, namely the App Store will now allow the use of Xbox Cloud Gaming and Nvidia GeForce Now, among other services on iOS systems.
Needless to say, the past few days have been pretty good if you’re an iOS gamer.
