Powerful and imposing, Faris Mombagna is capable of playing alone up front or in pairs. His profile, different from the other attackers already present, should suit Gennaro Gattuso’s system.

The player was picked up by many clubs, especially in the Premier League. Marseille, led by Pablo Longoria, Mehdi Benatia and Stéphane Tessier, managed to do well in this file.

A career between the United States and Scandinavia

Currently selected with Cameroon for the 2024 African Cup of Nations, Faris Mombagna came on in Monday’s 1-1 draw against Guinea where he replaced Olivier Cayman in the 85th minute. He now has three choices with the Indomitable Lions.

He scored 18 goals in 36 matches in the Norwegian Championship last year (calendar), but has also scored 6 goals in 12 matches in the current Europa Conference League campaign. He distinguished himself significantly by scoring three goals against Besiktas in the group stage.

Born in Yaoundé on July 1, 2000, he trained with Rainbow FC before joining the Montverde Academy in the United States in 2017, then Bethlehem Steel, the reserve team of the Philadelphia Union, an MLS club. He then signed for Norway’s Kristiansund BK in May 2020, before being loaned to Danish club Sønderjeske during the 2021–22 season. In January 2023, he was transferred to FK Bodø/Glimt.
