Fans are excited! Hated Call of Duty feature postponed ‘for now’

Recent Call of Duty titles are games that gamers love to hate. They upset many who are veterans of the series because COD’s latest title did nothing to justify its price tag. Warzone, a free battle royale mod based on the Call of Duty formula, has also not escaped criticism for its questionable additions, elements and mechanics.

Recently the game came back into the limelight as the developers introduced an undercover exfiltration feature in Warzone which was not well received by the fans of the game. Fans started criticizing the developer for including the extraction shooting mechanic in the Battle Royale game. They questioned why it was worth adding a feature that went against the whole purpose of Battle Royale: survival. Now, in a rare twist, the team behind the game has done something to address the outrage caused by the feature.

Call Duty Warzone to replace the undercover exfiltration function

Call of Duty Warzone Season 1 Reloaded will launch on January 17.

To establish some context, this feature was introduced when Season 1 Reloaded was announced by the team in a blog post on the official website. Various deals for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone were mentioned in the announcement. Season 1 of Reloaded will launch on January 17.

One of the offerings was an undercover exfiltration feature for the Battle Royale title. The announcement summarized it as follows:

Players can now exit matches prematurely using Undercover Exfiltration, providing a new victory condition for those who can afford the exit ride – if you can secure it!

This feature gives players an opportunity to finish the match before time and achieve victory in a very unconventional way. This can be done by purchasing undercover exfiltration at the purchase station. It was revealed that only five units of Exfiltration will be available for purchase at the match, each priced at a price and sold on a first-come, first-served basis. The players disagreed and took to social media platforms like Twitter to express their displeasure.

According to the latest update, Raven Software has taken action regarding this feature and stated that the feature has been suspended until further notice. This was announced in a post on Twitter by the official Raven Software account on the social media site. The message stated:

Over the past few days, we’ve heard your feedback regarding the Undercover Exfiltration feature and we’ve decided not to launch it in Standard Battle Royale next week with Season 1 Reloaded. We believe Undercover and the gameplay loop it provides, combined with Weapon Locker, will be an exciting addition to #Warzone. That said, we will instead launch these two features in a future dedicated mode.

It makes sense as the nature of the game sees players competing against each other to ensure that their team remains the last one standing. Now the announcement, when read carefully, also reveals that a new mode will be coming to the game, in which the feature will be present.

It remains to be seen if DMZ will make a return, which was previously introduced by the game as an experimental feature dubbed as a beta feature. While this news means that the game will have less new content when Season 1 Reloaded launches, some players were excited about the feature, and most were excited about the announcement, as evidenced by the comments on the post.

A comment filled with Ws was seen in the comment section of the post. That said, the new Champion Quest and NVG Gulag feature that are available ensure that the game mode benefits from the new features. Warzone is now free to play on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Microsoft Windows.
