“With Team BDS, you ended your regular season with a loss against Carmine Corp in your last match. How to explain this setback against the bottom of the league?
I already think they played well, you have to give it to them. They were solid, even if they made some mistakes in the middle of the game that we didn’t punish. our draft Playable, but since the start of the season we haven’t looked great at the start of the game and our formation was based on that. It doesn’t fit our current strengths.
You still finished with an excellent record of seven wins and two losses, best in the league with G2 Esports. Are you satisfied with your level since the start of the season?
I think we showed a beautiful face. There is an improvement in our game and I think that is important because sometimes it is difficult to progress when you only have three days to train. We managed to do that, so that’s a satisfaction. But we haven’t reached our goals yet, I think there are some very good teams in the league…
Once the twenty minutes had passed you showed remarkably great strength. Is this cause for satisfaction?
I am satisfied with the discipline we are managing. There is very little that is not considered in our decisions. After all, we are not always the best, but if we look at the league as a whole, we are a very good team. midgame
Do you think you can claim the title that eluded you last year?
i think Afterwards, we should not be excited, in the sense that we played nine matches in Bo1 (matches in one round), it is not much. In Asia, no one will learn anything after three Bo3s (in three rounds) And yet it’s the same number of games… so you shouldn’t even do that, even though, time-wise, it’s more stretched.
The way is there, now we have to keep working. We must not slow down, because I think teams will work harder in the play-offs. Where I think we have a definite lead on certain game plans midgameIt’s something that can be integrated very quickly among other teams, so it’s up to us to be serious.
You have a reputation as a demanding coach. Apart from the results on stage, are you happy with what your players offer in training?
It depends on the days (smile). But we have managed to get more stability in training compared to last year. There are always times when you have to pound your fist on the table a bit, because sometimes your focus lapses. Which is somewhat normal when you do this job and you’re in such a repetitive setting, playing more than 10 hours a day. But we need to know how to react so that we can bounce back quickly. We have not had any problems at this level, we have players who give their all ScreamsWe make our matches like official matches and I am very satisfied.
You were probably, once again, underestimated at the start of the season. Is there a risk that soon this will not be the case and you will not benefit from the amazing effect?
I know we prepare a lot for matches with quite extensive scouting. But I think some teams wait for Bo3 and Bo5 to invest so much. So we will have to see in future matches. We’re a team that has strengths, but it’s easier to read if you have several days to prepare. With several days ahead of them, our opponents will be able to do their homework properly, so we will have to come with more versatility in the play-offs.
While you were an assistant last year, you were promoted to head coach during the offseason. Does this give you more opportunities to work?
The possibilities are about the same, but I think it goes faster. If I want to implement something, we do it directly. We are also more specialized than last year with new arrivals in our staff (Rahul “Ruxi” Nanda, assistant coach and Bernadette Raemaker, in charge of performance) And I am happy with it. It allows everyone to focus on what they are there to do and bring the most value to the end players.
Personally, have you been surprised by what your players have shown since the start of the season? Elias “Nuke” Bizerikan, in particular, gives the impression of moving forward with each outing…
The good thing is that we have all three players the streets Those who can take the game into their own hands and play with few resources. It gives us more possibilities, where other teams are more polarizing. Personally, there is no role where we tell ourselves that there is an obstacle that prevents us from going for the title. It is very motivating, because the moment there is no glass ceiling, you tell yourself that all your efforts as a group can be rewarded. And the players work a lot individually, that’s the focus we have, even more than last year. I think they can show more things. »
