Who are they? What is his real name? Where do they come from? It doesn’t matter: by accepting this job, they each leave behind their identities and their lives to become agents of this secret “company”. Unlike the 2005 film, in the series, John and Jane do not know each other. It is the “company” in question that places them in pairs, a strategy used by the KGB during the Cold War, as a couple is in fact less likely to arouse suspicion than an individual (on this topic, Tele-laser Strongly recommend that you find the excellent spy series Americans). They gradually discover their new lives during their mission, understanding each other. As they learn the tricks of being a spy, they also learn about each other. Faced with fear and adrenaline, the barriers between them are quickly reduced, in fact slightly higher.
This 2024 version of the Mr. and Mrs. Smith Is it worth watching? In the film, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were a couple full of secrets: each hid the true nature of their work from the other. The series twists this starting point and features a misfit couple who must learn to cooperate. The subject matter is interesting, even if John and Jane get together too quickly for good. They have barely completed their second mission when they are already tearing off their clothes. We would have preferred them to hold each other more and bend more, eg the castle

Where the 2005 film focused heavily on the action, explosive and heavy-handed, destroying houses while trying to kill each other, the series Mr. and Mrs. Smith Plays more on the psychology of the characters. Jane, at first, is presented as something of a badass, but her shell quickly cracks. John is also very subtle, we think he likes to take care of others. The pair work, so does their dynamic, and the first few episodes really make you want to see how their relationship will develop. On the other hand, action enthusiasts will miss out. The opening scene, and the number of cartridges fired during these first ten minutes, is deceptive compared to the rest of the series, which lacks much adrenaline. Mission actually seems almost secondary to psychology. A bit of a slow pace which is also felt through the series’ soundscape. Even interesting twists, like the one in episode 4 where they meet another Smith couple, seem to be rushed away too quickly. The mystery surrounding the identity and motive of their employers isn’t really a mystery, unless it develops later…
