Top 3 Video Game Releases of the Week – Starting February 2024! 🎮
Role-playing games have been an integral part of the video game industry for over three decades. Every month, the genre welcomes some notable titles, whether it’s high-profile releases like Starfield, Lies of Pi, Hogwarts Legacy, Octopath Traveler 2 and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, or more niche projects like Labyrinth of Galleria: The . Moon Society, 8-Bit Adventures 2 and Little Witch Nobeta. There are always new RPGs in the works.
Due to the ambitious nature of AAA projects in the genre, they are often announced years in advance, a practice that can lead to extremely high expectations. Once the excitement train gets going, it can sometimes be impossible to stop, which has led to some disappointments in the past. However, when a game lives up to its potential, it is a true masterpiece.
What are the most anticipated upcoming RPGs? Well, first up is Persona 3 Reloaded, a complete overhaul of Atlus’ classic JRPG. With a brand new visual style reminiscent of Persona 5, this remake should have a relatively modern look. As for the action, it’s not yet clear how many changes the remake will have, although some tweaks will at least be included.
Then there’s Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth, which looks to be an even bigger sequel to Square Enix’s acclaimed remake. The game appears to build on the foundation established by the remake while introducing new playable characters such as Red 13. The story has already begun to diverge from the classic points, which may surprise both newcomers and veterans.
There’s also Dragon’s Dogma 2, which finally seems to tap into its predecessor’s potential after years of waiting. The strong combat, customization, and party system elements of the 2012 RPG could serve as the foundation for this anticipated sequel.
Another promising title is Sand Land, a video game adaptation of the eponymous manga by Akira Toriyama. Set in a world devoid of most natural resources, the game promises open-world action gameplay and a Dragon Quest-like aesthetic.
Black Myth: Wukong also looks interesting, with an original approach in the action-RPG genre, inspired by Soulslike games to offer fast and complex combat.
Finally, STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl stands as a unique and ambitious experience in the FPS genre, mixing survival game elements and immersive immersive features.
I look forward to discovering these upcoming projects and seeing if they will live up to the expectations of RPG fans!
