SNCF Voyageurs boss, Christophe Fanichet, announced this Friday evening that around 150,000 travelers, out of the million planned this weekend, will not be able to take the train due to a strike by controllers. “We are not there,” he declared on BFM TV.
A strike movement of controllers is seriously disrupting the SNCF network this weekend. In the absence of this on board, the train cannot run, we explain why here.
Mathilde Panot, leader of LFI deputies, this morning called on the French to strike against a government “that only listens to the balance of power” before and during the Olympic Games. “The right to strike is social democracy”, the rebel asserted on BFMTV/RMC, slamming a government that “listens to nothing and nobody”.
“We don’t know yet how much it will cost us,” said Alain Krakovich, director of TGV-Intercites, in an interview with the TF1 morning show this morning. A well-attended strike is 20 million per day, but we know that there, it will be a little less because we have every other train.”
“We will have one of two trains on Sunday and our customers will receive an email, an SMS to let them know if their train is confirmed or cancelled,” TGV-Intercités director Alain Krakovich said on TF1 this morning.
Controllers are defined. And the Federal Secretary of SUD-Rail Julian Trokaz assures: “We deny ourselves nothing” to continue the movement.

Striking unions believe the implementation of an emergency exit agreement negotiated at the end of 2022, when 200,000 travelers were stranded by strikes over the Christmas weekend, is slow. They also demand contract renegotiations at the end of careers. “The company’s commitments that were made in December 2022 are being fulfilled”, especially on additional positions, replied the boss of SNCF Voyageurs.
With every strike by railway workers, the same frustration of users forced them to cancel their journeys or arrange themselves to reach their destinations.

“All regions will be irrigated by the TGV but not all French people will be able to travel,” warned SNCF Voyageurs boss Christophe Fanichet, who traveled to Lyon on Thursday. “The priority is that the trains are full and… in February, those are the trains to the Alps,” he added.
In an exceptional situation, an exceptional measure. During this strike period, SNCF is setting up a compensation or exchange system, with the resulting commercial signal.
