During the day, it’s bottles, homework and football in the square. At night, it’s spliff, coke and company. “Libbe” gives voice to those who try to juggle parenthood and the more or less acknowledged vices. In the first episode of our series, Helena, 45, mother of a 22-year-old daughter and long-time fan of Secret Fireworks, testifies.
“At 16, my first boyfriend was a heroin dealer and user, but I never did. On the contrary, this summer romance had a guardian effect, inoculating me for life. However, it was at this age that I started smoking cigarettes. When I was 18, I used to go out a lot and I had a friend who was a coke dealer. I sometimes take it in the evening. The nightclubs in the town I grew up in always had a lot of drugs, and the rich did as much as the poor. So I start my life as a lover and dating girl with slightly older friends who are all into drugs. At that time, I experimented with hallucinogenic shits, afghans, products that were not readily available… but remained festive, occasional. I don’t do drugs at my parents’ house, but I do smoke. It must be said that I come from a family of smokers, my parents smoked at home and in the car. I also knew cigarettes in cafes, I remember seeing pregnant women smoking… it was normal, it was part of the landscape. I’ve been drinking a pack a day for twenty years; My aunt who is over 80 years old (in great shape) still smokes 3 to 5 cigarettes a day.
