We are in the late 90s. Hugh Jackman was not yet the interstellar star he is today. At this time, the Australian actor had just finished filming on X-Men, where he played the mutant Wolverine.
While waiting for the film to be released on all screens, Jackman continues to audition. And that’s good, he just landed a great role in the romcom Animal Attraction opposite Ashley Judd.
His agent then had an idea: to cast him in a major production with Sandra Bullock. If he is cast in Miss Detective, he can use that as an argument to negotiate his contract on Ashley Judd’s film. But nothing goes as planned, as the actor will reveal a few years later Diversity.
When he goes to the audition, Hugh Jackman doesn’t expect to meet the lead actress. Both actors must pass a chemistry test to see if their relationship works well on screen (they are to play Inspector Eric Matthews, who falls under the spell of Gracie Hart).
