Botulinum Risk: Be careful with these canned products made from duck meat

Government site Rappel Conso has issued a warning on a range of duck products.
This is a sauce and ready meal, produced in the same company in Puy-de-Dôme.
Consumers run the risk of contracting food-borne botulism.

Tomato sauce, soups, terrines, confits, rillettes, a fritton, whole foie gras… all these products are the subject of a warning issued by the Rapal Conso website. They have two things in common: they all contain ducks, and they were all made by the same company in Puy-de-Dôme: “Ferme au Delis Royale”. They are distributed in numerous points of sale, including about thirty in the departments of Intermarche, Cantal, Puy-de-Dôme, Courage, Allier, Loire, Haute-Loire and de la Cruz – without forgetting online sales. The government site publishes complete details for each of the 15 related articles.

Inadequate health guarantee

The recalled products are canned goods with fairly long expiration dates. It may contain Clostridium botulinum, the agent responsible for botulism. “These products were manufactured and/or stored in conditions that do not provide a satisfactory health guarantee”Rappel mentions Conso, and “It is therefore likely to present a risk to the health of consumers”. Health authorities call not to use the product and to contact customer service where it comes from.
