On Wednesday’s episode of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” Butler recalled the difficulty of making the jump from “Elvis” to begin work on Apple TV+’s World War II drama, “Masters of the Air.”

The star said he only had a week between the two projects, and struggled to pull off his memorable role as Elvis.

“I had a dialect coach to help me not sound like Elvis,” Butler said.

“I was just trying to remember who I was. I was trying to remember what I liked to do. For three years all I thought about was Elvis. And then I have that weekend off,” he continued. .

“And then I went to London, and it was Covid at the time, so I was quarantined for 10 days. I thought, ‘OK, for all this energy to learn about World War II,'” Butler added.

While promoting “Elvis” in 2022, Butler continued to speak in Presley’s distinctive Southern accent, which became a social media meme.
