On the occasion of the release of its financial results, Ubisoft revealed some details regarding the future of its games catalog. A few titles are expected in the coming months while the release of GTA 6 is under review.
The biggest name in video games spent some time on its roadmap for the coming months. Several meetings are scheduled between April 1, 2024 and March 31, 2025. Not all details have been given, however we do have the main games named Assassin’s Creed RED and Star Wars Outlaws. This information was given during the presentation of the group’s third quarter 2023-2024 results.
Ubisoft reported a turnover of 606 million euros in this third quarter, slightly lower than last year. One reason is the disappointing performance of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. The firm is expected to have a good fourth quarter thanks to Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and Skull & Bones.
Star Wars Outlaws is expected to launch this year while Assassin’s Creed Codename RED will have to wait a bit longer. We don’t have a specific date right now. Ubisoft also has Unknown Soldier: Brothers in Arms planned for multiple platforms. The game will be available on consoles (Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch) and PC. If all goes as planned, the release is scheduled for Netflix (February 2024). It also adds several titles to the mobile version such as The Division: Resurgence and Rainbow Six.
Ubisoft wants to reassure about future activity. It will not only focus on new features as content is also planned for many games that are already commercially available. We can cite The Division 2, The Crew Motorfest, Raiders Republic and Rainbow Six: Siege.
Interestingly, during this earnings presentation, Yves Guillemot was asked how the company could plan its schedule around the release of other big games like Grand Theft Auto VI. The company is indeed eyeing GTA VI and expects it to release near the start of the 2026 fiscal year (in other words, around April 1, 2025).
What we can say about GTA VI is that what we have seen in the past is that when there is a big release like GTA, more and more people come back to the industry and it helps sell other games as well. So we’re looking at it, we’re looking at it, and we’re actually planning things around the launch of (GTA VI) which… we don’t know exactly when that will be, but we’re considering it. Our fiscal year 2026 is closer than our fiscal year 2025. Overall, this is positive for the market.
