The Mothership of Category Five, led by Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain, descended on New York City last night. On Thursday, mothers…I mean…Mothers instincts The costars stepped out in award-worthy evening dresses at the National Board of Review Gala in New York City.
Despite the different shades of their gowns, both Hathaway and Chastain agreed on very low-cut necklines. Hathaway slipped into a shimmering Giorgio Armani beaded number that was the perfect twist on the classic Hollywood LBD. The piece was designed with a dramatic, skin-baring bodice and strap detail that wrapped around the back. Hathaway is never one for complicated things, and her accessories are on point – the actor opted for silver Bulgari jewels, as her black Aquazzura heels remained hidden beneath the slight train of her dress. Hathaway styled her brunette hair in casual, loose waves, while her natural glam look included flushed, dewy makeup and glossy lips. Chastain similarly stepped out on the star-studded evening with a bombshell outfit of her own.
The film star dazzled in a princess-style Vivienne Westwood gown which she accessorised with Suzanne Callan jewellery. Her reflective purple dress featured the British brand’s signature corset detail and finished with a little train. Chastain took Hathaway’s lead, with a relatively back-and-forth look.
Those of us who enjoyed seeing the two Academy Award-winning actors in their best gala fashion will soon be making their way to the silver screen to join them in a literal mother-off. Mothers instincts. In the upcoming film, Hathaway and Chastain will star as best friends and neighbors who let “guilt, suspicion and paranoia” “bleed into their friendship as a psychological battle of wills gives way to the darker side of maternal instinct,” per the official synopsis.
“It was the hardest role I’ve ever played,” Hathaway said recently. Vogue Hong Kong. “It touched my worst fear, and I almost backed out of the film because I didn’t know if I could go there as an actress.”
“Obviously it’s a different kind of film, but this idea of these two actresses coming together and playing this… I think the tension is very interesting,” Chastain told IndieWire. “Thank God Annie and I love each other.”
