Angry fans are already burning the game! You won’t believe your eyes…

January has been quite the month for The Last of Us fans. Last Friday saw the launch of The Last of Us Part II Remastered, which received praise from fans and critics alike.

The game scored a very respectable 91 on Metacritic, earning the site a “must-play” accolade. Here at GAMINGbible, we gave The Last of Us Part II a perfect 10, writing: “The Last of Us Part II Remastered is absolute perfection. Naughty Dog has the advantage of working with one of the most awarded games of all time. The Last of Us Part II Remastered is much more than a graphical refresh. While these new features add to the intensity and immersion of the core game, making it a definitive way to experience this phase of Ellie’s story, it’s not the only aspect of this outing. » I wish that was the only side of this story.

Take a look at our video review of The Last of Us Part II remastered below.

Unfortunately, the negative review campaign is back. You may recall that Part II was the target of a lot of hate upon its release, particularly due to the backlash against the character of Abby. Personally, I love Abby but I also understand people who don’t feel the same way. However, there is a clear difference between disliking a character and giving a rating of zero or one because events didn’t turn out the way you wanted them to.

On Metacritic, The Last of Us Part II Remastered is the target of the same kind of hate campaign we’ve seen in 2020. “This game’s story is the equivalent of a bad 80s movie,” read one negative review, while another said: “One of the most boring, standard and predictable plots ever.” I miss the days when people cared about the games they made. » Hmm, I can think of a few moments that were far from predictable.

Someone recommended buying the cheaper version on PS3. Oh, bad game, dude. “This game will never achieve any real respectability,” commented one reviewer. “It’s just as bad as it was when it started in 2020. Badly written characters and a nonsensical story,” added another.

You get the idea. Almost all of these low-scoring reviews are directed at the story itself, and what makes this re-release unique, like No Return and The Lost Levels. I hate to admit it, I don’t think we’re surprised. I would have been shocked if this speech hadn’t come up again. Overall, the user rating is very fair with 8.2, of which 18% are assigned as negative.
