Actress Anne Hathaway crashes a photo shoot in solidarity

Actress Anne Hathaway knocked on the door of a photo studio in New York Tuesday morning where she was to pose for “Vanity Fair.” In solidarity with the employees of the press group that belongs to the magazine, who were on strike that day, several American media reported.

The American actress was getting her makeup and hair done before the shoot when she learned that more than 400 employees of the Condé Nast group were on a 24-hour walkout following a wave of layoffs at the company. The company, they allege, reneged on its commitments during negotiations.

“They hadn’t even started taking photos yet,” a Condé Nast union member told the trade journal “Variety.” “Once Anne realized what was happening, she got up and left.” A gesture welcomed by the union on Twitter: “Thank you, Anne Hathaway, for not walking out on our strike.”

However, the source clarifies that the actress’ decision did not cause “drama” and that the photo shoot will be postponed to a later date.

Condé Nast Press Group notably owns “Vogue”, “GQ”, “Allure” and “Glamour” magazines. Its editorial director is none other than the mighty Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of “Vogue”, who parodied Anne Hathaway on screen in the movie “The Devil Wears Prada”.
