A Palworld leak reveals the same pal as Pokemon Mewtwo: The plagiarism debate continues

Estelle Vernet

Palworld datamining has found Pal to be strikingly similar in appearance to Mewtwo from the Pokemon series, which is once again in the news over allegations of plagiarism.

It’s today in 2024, long before Palworld became a cultural phenomenon, it was called “Pokémon with guns”. And while the current Early Access release is more similar in structure to survival games like Ark, Pals is getting a lot of criticism.

With dozens of designs found in the Pokemon franchise, the controversy runs high. The Pokemon Company also gave its opinion a few days ago.

Now, according to a supposed datamining, an even more creepy identical pal may be coming to the palworld soon.

Datamining images show a pal similar to Pokemon’s Mewtwo

Pokemon YouTuber Lewtwo was the first to share Palworld designs taken from the game’s code. Eurogamer managed to speak with original leaker Brian Cozens who accidentally discovered this particular design while compiling 3D models found in the game.

In this case, it is the “dark mutant” pal that is called into question. Indeed, the leak revealed a creature strangely resembling Mewtwo. From his pointy ears to his three fingers and toes, Pal’s design takes undeniable inspiration from the popular Pokemon.

Taking to social media for equality, Levtu shared the picture saying, “YouYou are not serious boys ” Three million reactions later and the current controversy has been reignited.

There were many reactions including: ” This guy is pissed (because) Pokemon hasn’t released a good game since Black and White 2 “,” Competition is good “,” Looks much better than Mewtwo “, and” It is just extremely obvious that it is theft. “They are fairly representative of the different opinions among the players.

Developer Palworld has apparently fought back against accusations of Pokemon plagiarism, but millions of players are still debating. And now, with the game in the Pokemon Company’s crosshairs, legal action seems to be coming.

But for now, Palworld continues to thrive with brisk sales and a large audience on the streaming platform. Whether this Mewtwo-style pal will make it into the final game is pure speculation at this point.
