The second day of the LEC Winter Split 2024 regular season continues with the “Match of the Week”, pitting G2 Esports against Karmine Corp, the reigning European champions. After an intense and action-packed match, Caps and his team managed to clinch the victory, thus signing their second win of the season.
G2 Esports vs KArmine Corp, Match of the Week
Welcome to an electrifying day two of the LEC Winter Split 2024 regular season! This Sunday, January 14, we are privileged to witness an epic clash between two titans of the European game. On one hand we have G2 Esports, the reigning European champions, who have had a great start to the season, winning their first match of the season against Team BDS the previous day. Caps and his teammates continue to show why they are the clear favorites, with impeccable strategy and flawless execution.
On the other hand, we have Carmine Corp, a newcomer that has shaken up the European scene somewhat. Despite losing their first match, KCorp showed a good level of play and promise of greatness. Their overall performance was solid, despite some lapses in the mid game which unfortunately cost them dearly. Tonight, they are ready to bounce back and prove that they are a force to be reckoned with in this league. The stakes are high: G2 Esports is looking to consolidate its leadership position, while Carmine Corp wants to establish itself as a serious contender, and what better way to start its season than by defeating the reigning champions. There will be strategy, precision and passion.
Good stuff from KC, but still not enough
We enter Summoner’s Rift for the “Match of the Week” between G2 Esports and Karmine Corp. Both teams dive into the action quickly with aggressive play styles on both sides, leading to early side lane clashes. Before the first 10 minutes, the KCorp duolane looked capable, unlike the two sololaners who were struggling under opposing pressure, especially Cabochard. The teams are relatively even in appearance, but in the 10th minute, G2 takes the advantage thanks to a big fight and a great order of play from Yike on Viego. G2 Esports found themselves with a 2,000 gold lead, but Carmine Corp took advantage of a mistake by their opponents to win a decisive teamfight and restore balance to the game.
In the 20th minute of the match, tension was seen between the two teams. Karmine Corp manages to get a third dragon, but Midlane suffers losses conceding two kills in a team fight. This situation allows G2 Esports to take the first step of the game. With Baron’s buff, G2 wins an important team fight on the topplane and follows up with a double assault on the top and into Carmine’s base on the bot. With the match clearly not going in their favor for about 10 minutes and facing a significant delay in gold, Carmine Corp are struggling to turn things around, especially as they face increased pressure in the side lane. However, Carmine Corp defends heroically, managing to defend its nexus against attacks from Brokenblade and Caps, and even succeeding in capturing Nashor after eliminating Hans Sama and Mikix.
After these few moments of hesitation, G2 regroups and positions themselves in the midlane to defend their base against Carmine Corp’s pressure attempt. They successfully push their opponents back, while Brokenblade continues their split and reaches the enemy nexus again. The members of Carmine Corp fall one by one, resulting in the destruction of their nexus. Like their previous match, G2 had a rough start to the game, with a few mistakes, but once they entered the mid-game and the side lane was completely destroyed, they picked up the pace and (almost) completely dominated. their opponents. For Carmine Corp, the team once again showed promising aspects of their game. However, it looks like a bit more work needs to be done, especially to strengthen their performance in the mid game. Despite this, there is clearly room for improvement in the team, and they can clearly get their first win against the MAD Lions tomorrow.
