In a Facebook post, the White Settlement Police Department reported that they responded to a call from a concerned resident about the strange find. Shortly after 4 p.m., agents arrived at a residence located on Lanham Street last Sunday, December 31, to investigate the danger the device may present to the community.
They were renovating and found a hand grenade
According to agents, the house where the grenade was found, described as “military style,” was under renovation and the new owner was the one who discovered the blue explosive device. As a precaution, residents near the property were evacuated and police called in a fire and bomb investigation team from the Fort Worth Fire Department, a city in north-central Texas.
Experts arrived at the site and determined that the device was safe, as the grenade contained no explosive material. However, the department protected him, they indicated in a Facebook statement. On social networks, the news has generated a large number of reactions, as some residents assure that these types of devices, blue in color, are for training, so they do not represent danger.
In this regard, the police department gave a response: “Police officers responded to a call from a concerned citizen. We notified the Fort Worth Fire Department as per our protocol. Out of an abundance of caution, we asked residents to evacuate the area. In the day we live in, that is the right decision.
