British cosmetics brand The Body Shop is set to enter receivership in the United Kingdom, putting a significant number of jobs and sales outlets in the country at risk, according to reports. Sky News.
According to the channel, the group “Preparation to Name” Restructuring Specialist for “Management of Insolvency Proceedings for its UK Operations”, where The Body Shop has about 200 stores. According to an inside source cited by Sky News, the process will not concern the group’s global network. Contacted by AFP, the group did not want to comment on the information.
The British brand was sold by its Brazilian owner Natura Cosmetics to German investment fund Aurelius in late 2023. The transaction amount was far less than the 1 billion euros paid by the Brazilian when it bought the group from French giant L’Oréal in 2017.
