60 arrest warrants filed for drug trafficking – Telemundo Puerto Rico

This Wednesday morning, after filing 231 charges in absentia against high-profile criminal subjects, police processed 60 arrest warrants in 20 municipalities in Puerto Rico.

called an operation “High Profile”The aim was to eradicate drug trafficking and illegal arms sales on the island. A total of 51 men and 12 women, aged between 20 and 50, were arrested.

This includes:

  • Jose Coles Irizarry, 29 years old, who works as a model for brands and designers in the United States
  • Jorge Claudio Texidore Merced, 25 years old and urban music artist
  • Alejandro Candelaria, 23, disc jockey
  • Jeremy Frias, 22, who is serving federal probation Carjacking

“Not all those arrested are drug addicts, they are people who are dedicated to the transfer and sale of illegal weapons in the underworld”Police Commissioner Antonio López Figueroa said at a press conference.

About 25 defendants, who were indicted in absentia by the Division to Combat Organized Crime and Drugs of the Department of Justice and the Mayaguez Prosecutor’s Office for violations of the Firearms and Controlled Substances Act, are drug and arms traffickers. Underworld, which is why the operation was called “High Profile”. These included large-scale drug distributors, who sold substances by the kilo, as well as some gunmen linked to multiple murders. The total bail amount is $37 million.

Although most of the accused operate independently, this operation succeeded in dismantling, in Naranjito, the criminal organization La Familia del Cerro, where the majority of its members belong to the same family, including the father, children and wife. From its alleged leader, Miguel Antonio Figueroa Rodríguez, aka “Totem,” to the sellers, they appear on arrest lists.

Several investigations revealed that this gang was responsible for constant criminal activities in the Naranjito area. Figueroa Rodriguez was arrested last December by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Figueroa Rodriguez and his son-in-law Jose A. Torres Narvaez, aka “Beto,” who allegedly acted as the gunman, was released from jail to be processed locally for the new charges.

The operation, conducted by the Superintendency of Special Operations (SAOE), managed to hit two other organizations as well. One of these is dedicated to the distribution of drugs on a large scale by acting as a wholesaler in the distribution chain. Their packaging has a distinctive logo of a well-known motor vehicle brand. The third organization calls itself 11th Street (Eleventh Street), whose members promote and deliver their sales through social networks Delivery All over the island.

The municipalities affected by the operation are: San Juan, Bayamon, Carolina, Guanabo, Dorado, Toa Alta and Toa Baja, Canovanas, Caguas, Gurabo, Naranjito, Humacao, Ibonito, Barcelonata, Mayaguez, Cabo Rojo, Anasco, Rincón, Aguada, San Sebastian.
