Disturbing claims about the future of MMO League of Legends

Since its release in 2009, League of Legends has become one of the most popular video games, generating a lot of interest in expanding its universe. However, recent statements by a senior Riot Games official have raised concerns about the future of MMOs based in this universe.
MMO League of Legends was confirmed at the end of 2020, but is expected to release in 2025 or later. Despite the anticipation and interest that this project has generated, the words of League of Legends commentator Guan Zeyuan have caused uncertainty. A senior manager at Riot Games reportedly expressed reservations about the project, stating that he wouldn’t bet his career on the project if he was a game designer.
These statements have caused a stir in the gaming community, as they suggest that the MMO may face serious problems in its development. The departure of Greg Street, World of Warcraft designer and former MMO Riot executive producer, in March also added uncertainty to the future of the game.
The League of Legends universe is vast and full of compelling stories, so the idea of an MMO based on that world will appeal to many players. However, video game development is difficult and not all projects come to fruition. Only time will tell if this MMO becomes a successful addition to the League of Legends universe or is forgotten.
