Dionisio Gutierrez leads high-level international election observation mission in Guatemala

GUATEMALA CITY, August 20, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Dionisio Gutierrez, President of the Foundation for Freedom and Development, leads the International Team of Electoral Observers in Guatemalareaffirming its unwavering commitment to democracy in the region.

In addition, high-ranking representatives of the US security agencies arrived in the country. Guatemalaincluding George Piro, former assistant director of international operations for the FBI; D.S. Page, former Senior Homeland Security Officer; Javier Perez, former director Miami Police; And Eric Hawkformer head of UN security and others.
Their experience, knowledge and commitment to democracy and the rule of law will enhance the monitoring process and help ensure fair and transparent elections.
This Mission underscores the commitment of the international community to strengthening democratic values and ensuring a peaceful electoral process in Guatemala.
Former presidents participating in the observer mission led by Dionisio Gutierrez are part of the Freedom and Democracy Group. This newly created group is the result of the efforts of the International Foundation for Freedom, founded by Mario Vargas Llosa, of which Dionisio Gutierrez is a member. The FDG is made up of over 20 former Presidents of Ibero-America and other prominent leaders of the region with the aim of defending and promoting the values of republican democracy and freedom in Latin America.
