In Season 3 of “The Great,” Katherine (Elle Fanning) and Peter (Nicholas Hoult) try to make their marriage work after some insurmountable problems. Peter witnesses his assassination attempt at the hands of Catherine, who also arrests all of his friends. Meanwhile, Peter is lost, taking on the role of first gentleman of Catherine’s reign, and busying himself with fatherly, hunting, and culinary endeavors. But they aren’t enough to keep him happy, as visions of his late father (played by Jason Isaacs) keep coming to his mind and remind him of his failures as the son of Peter the Great. Catherine the Great, on the other hand, began to make a name for herself beyond her borders and, inspired by the visit of the United States ambassador, organized a convention where peasants, nobles and merchants could voice their opinion on the development of the new Russia. . She knows that even the best of political leaders sometimes have to make compromises in order to get ahead.
