Song of Nunu: History

The game takes place in the frigid north of the League of Legends world called Runaterra, more specifically the Freljord. Many prominent LoL champions hail from this region, including the game’s protagonists Nunu and Willump.

And for all of you who aren’t very familiar with the main League of Legends game, Nunu is a little boy and Willump is a yeti-like creature. With that said, let’s take a look at the history and what is known so far.

The game tells the story of Nunu and how he meets Willump while looking for his mother in the area. David Canela of Tequila Works describes the main story as follows:

Song of Nunu is a single player adventure game. As Nunu, you are looking for your mother. On this trip, you do it with your best friend. Willump looks like the biggest teddy bear you’ve ever seen. He is like a father or protector to Nunu.

CEO and creative director Raul Rubio talks about Nuno’s past and his people, notai,

Lead programmer Estefania Salcedo describes the relationship in more detail: “We pay a lot of attention to the relationship between Nunu and Willump. They play together, laugh together and cry together. they take care of each other“.

And according to the description of the game on stores such as Steam and Epic Games, we will find many other popular League of Legends characters such as Braum, Ornn, Volibear and Lissandra. On the game’s official website, the Lissandra section is next to the Nunu and Willump sections.

Therefore, this could mean that she will be the antagonist of the story. It will be interesting to see the full story after the launch of the game and how the deep bond between Nunu and Willump will be shown throughout the story.

Song of Nunu: Gameplay

The gameplay footage shown so far has a more comic book-like graphical style and an over-the-shoulder third-person perspective. The developers have already mentioned various aspects of the game, such as challenges and puzzles to be solved.

The aforementioned magic flute also plays a significant role in the game, as the trailer showed Nunu using it to create an ice bridge. And we’ve already had a look at the battle between the pack of wolves and Nunu and Willump, in which Nunu used a magic spell to block the attacking wolves.

So we could expect a few more magic spells to solve all sorts of problems, as well as solve puzzles and fight. When it comes to movement in the game, the developers mentioned jumping, climbing, and in the trailer, they even showed Nunu and Willump sliding down a snowy hill while Willump slides.

The most important aspect of the gameplay is of course also the mentioned snowball fights between our two main characters. Very charming. It looks like the Freljord region will have a different environment, with lightly snowy areas where we’ll see Nunu riding Willump, or areas with heavy snowstorms where Willump will have to carry Nunu in his arms and protect him from the winds.

Song of Nunu: release date, platforms and price

The Song of Nunu: A League of Legends Story is scheduled to release in 2023, more precisely, in the fall of 2023 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series. and on PC. As such, it will not be a platform-exclusive game.
