Jennifer, of Puerto Rican descent, was raised in the Bronx, New York. Since she was a little girl, she knew she wanted to be a star – she started studying dance and singing at the age of five.
When she grew up, she enrolled in a business school, but left the course to specialize in dance. The singer’s parents did not support this decision and she had to finance her education herself.
Eventually, she started working as a dancer in music videos and theater plays. One of her most famous ‘jobs’ was her 1990 appearance as ‘Fly Girl’ on the show “In Living Color”, which earned her a spot as a dancer on Janet Jackson’s tour.

Lopez then invested in her acting career, landing roles in shows such as ‘South Central’ and ‘Hotel Malibu’; and movies like ‘My Family’ and Selena Quintanilla’s biography. It was this biopic that earned her her first Golden Globe nomination and inspired her to pursue a singing career.
Jennifer’s musical debut dates back to 1999, the year she released the album “On the 6”. The album peaked at number eight on the music charts, and produced such classics as “If You Had My Love” and “Could This Be Love”.
Other highlight projects are “J.Lo” (2001), “This Is Me…then” (2002) and “Rebirth” (2005). Over the course of several releases, it achieved several hits at the top of Billboard, proving its worldwide notoriety.
His releases of the 2010s were also successful. For example, “Dance Again…the Hits” (2012) spawned the single “One the Floor”, which sold over eight million copies. And it doesn’t stop there — Lopez proved she’s more than ready to move on in 2022 by announcing “This Is Me…Now.” It will be their first new material in eight years.
In the course of so many works, the artist also explored other areas. Jennifer has created fashion brands including a sportswear store, and offered a cosmetics and fragrance line.
Be it as an entrepreneur, actress, singer or dancer, Jennifer will always shine and make a mark. With a career spanning over 30 years, she can look back and be confident that she has achieved her childhood dream. Congratulations!
