Tom Holland revealed he struggled with alcoholism

During a heart-to-heart conversation on the podcast On Purpose with Jay ShettyHolland shared his experience that alcohol has become a serious problem in his life.
He said he celebrated Christmas when he was “very, very drunk”, which forced him to reconsider his relationship with drinking. It was at that moment that the actor decided to challenge himself to spend the coming January without consuming alcohol.
“All I could think about was drinking. It really scared me”Holland explained the first few months of her sobriety journey. “I was thinking all the time, ‘Wow, maybe I should drink something alcoholic.’
The experience made him realize that his social life could not go on without his dependence on alcohol, leading him to extend his sobriety beyond the initially planned month. Holland admitted that he became concerned when he realized he might have an alcohol problem.
“I felt like I couldn’t have a social life”said the actor. “I felt like I couldn’t go to a pub and drink lemon soda. I couldn’t go out for dinner. I was really struggling. I started to get really worried that maybe I had an alcohol problem.
After six months of sobriety, Holland experienced a significant change in his life:
“It was the happiest moment of my life”Holland continued. “I could sleep better. Handled problems better. The things that went wrong on the sets which usually left me upset, I could have handled them better. He had such mental clarity. I felt more healthy, fit… I started asking myself: ‘Why? Why am I stuck on this drink? Why am I so obsessed with the idea of drinking?
